Death of the national figure "Bilal Hassan"
Bilal Hassan, a Kurdish political and cultural figure from Afrin, passed away yesterday, Friday, at the age of 91, in Germany.
Hassan was known for his defense of the rights of religious and ethnic minorities, and was the first Kurd to light the Newroz flame in Afrin about 65 years ago.
The deceased had a book of Kurdish proverbs consisting of 759 pages and containing more than 20 thousand Kurdish proverbs.
Bilal Hassan was born in the village of Khalka in Afrin in 1933.
