The Lebanese newspaper "Al-Akhbar" said that Israel is conducting military exercises in more than one place to increase its capabilities to carry out ground military operations in Lebanon and Syria, in conjunction with Israeli security-political activity with its allies to create a political and popular reality that puts pressure on "Hezbollah" in Lebanon and Syria. The newspaper quoted security sources as saying that "the Israeli army aims to cut off the road to any ground supply, whether from Syria or Iraq, through a ground military operation through which it enters the areas of southern Lebanon and southwestern Syria, and is looking into exploiting any progress inside Syrian territory to launch a major military strike against the Syrian army, which would disrupt any capabilities to help "Hezbollah" on the one hand, and encourage the Syrian opposition in the south and north to resume its battles."
